Celebrating the grand opening of KINOKUNIYA International, we have created a KINOKUNIYA original silken, chirimen-woven furoshiki. It is dyed with grapes, spinach and hops, which we also use in our long-selling English Bread. This complex combination of plant dyes has produced beautiful, delicate colors.

この商品は、果物・野菜・穀物・草花など自然の植物から抽出した独自の天然染料で染色した最高級正絹ちりめん風呂敷です。紀ノ国屋こだわりの素材で染め上げあげられた風呂敷は、何種類もの色素をもつ植物ならではの奥深く美しい色が表現されています。

風呂敷の歴史

風呂敷の歴史はとても古く、現存する最古の「包みもの」は、飛鳥時代、聖徳太子の遺品文書を包んだ布といわれています。正倉院には奈良時代に舞楽の衣装を包んでいた布が収蔵されています。室町時代、足利義満建立の大湯殿に招かれた大名たちが脱いだ衣服を他人のものと区別するため家紋入りの絹布に包んだことが風呂敷（ふろしき）の名前の由来とされています。形を選ばず様々な物を包んで運搬、収納することのできる利便性と何度でも繰り返して使用出来る経済性から、日本が誇る美しい織物と染色技術として発展を続けています。



The History of Furoshiki

The history of furoshiki dates from the Asuka Era,between the 6th to 8th centuries in Japan. Furoshiki has been a versatile wrapping cloth still in modern popular use,since ancient times. One of the oldest furoshiki, a wrapping for dance costumes, can be found in the Shosoin, an Imperial warehouse built in the 8th century.The simplicity and beauty of furoshiki weaving and dyes are most suitable for our ecology-minded modern lifestyle. １９５８年の発売当初より紀ノ国屋を代表するロングセラーのイギリスパン。厳選した小麦を使い、伝統製法のもと職人が毎日焼き上げているこのパンのおいしさの秘密がホップ種にあります。このホップから抽出した染料は日の光を浴びて黄金色に輝くような美しい色になりました。
